tbh i fully believe that healthy kids should be getting in some stupid trouble.
like, a child that’s in trouble all the time, frequently skipping school, getting caught doing crimes? that’s a kid that desperately needs literally any positive attention. that kid needs help. obviously.
but a child that is perfectly well-behaved, never speaks up for themself, is seen and not heard? that’s a child that’s afraid. they also need help.
Kids learn by messing up. A kid who never does anything that might lead to a mistake has been taught that it’s not okay to make mistakes
As someone who was perfect growing up, yeah, that. I grew up fucking terrified. I basically didn’t learn how to make friends until my mid-20s. It’s a thing.

sometimes being visibly queer is terrifying but sometimes it is the best and most wonderful thing in the world
when the person helping you at the store is also visibly queer, and they’re holding it in but you can tell they’re just so happy to see you. to say hello. or when you meet an older queer person and they are So kind to you, like they’re determined to be a good thing that happens to you today. or when someone on the sidewalk picks you out of everyone to ask for directions because they know you’re safe. when you walk past someone and clock each other and make the smallest eye contact, just to say i see you. thank you. we’re in this together

Hey anxiety, I see you. You’re trying so hard to protect me, I really appreciate that. Though, right now there is no real danger. You don’t have to be on guard. But, if you want to stay for a while that’s fine too. Nonetheless, you are safe. We are safe.
